Mozart, Math & Music will introduce students
to the music of Mozart through the prism of basic mathematical principles.
The Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra, Maestro Charles Burke, young
musicians and Herr Mozart join forces to create an entertaining,
informative program for students and adults. Students will discover
that Mozart’s music is all around them – on TV, in movies
and radio and even in math games. Two teenaged members of DSCO share
insights about themselves and their lives in "A Day in the
Life" segments. Two mathematical principles will be musically
explored – the Fibonacci Sequence (shown in Symphony No. 40
in G-minor) and a contribution from Pythagoras regarding pitch.
