The Language of Dance, featuring
Martha Graham Dance Company, emphasizes the similarities between
the choreographic structure of dance movement and the English Language
Arts curriculum. Dance is analyzed as an art form and as a means
of communication. The physicality of dance is also discussed and
aligned with the Physical Education curriculum. Experiencing this
presentation takes the mystery out of this unique art form while
engaging the students in activities that bring meaning and understanding
to various means of communication.
CD
ROM : Bringing a Performance to Life
focuses on the Music Hall as a performance venue and also includes
historical background information. Students are introduced to various
aspects of a performance from a behind the scenes perspective. Students
take a virtual tour of the Music Hall and are introduced to the
elements of the theatre. Students then organize a virtual production
and write their own script. Students can also explore career opportunities
in the performing arts. Highlights include:
